VICTORIA — The Government of British Columbia is investing $540,000 to create more training opportunities for high-demand construction jobs.

The funds are going to the BC Construction Training Network Association to deliver construction-ready training with ACE Trades and Technical Institute and the Progressive Intercultural Community Services Society, reads a news release.

Through the program, participants will get 10 weeks of training, four weeks of on-the-job experience and two weeks of follow up support.

The first cohort has already begun the program with the second cohort starting on April 4, and the third on July 4, states the release.

“Our government’s Future Ready plan is making training easier and more affordable for people in the province. This project prepares people for ongoing stable job opportunities in the construction industry so that they can support themselves and their families, and build more resilient neighbourhoods across B.C.,” said Minister of State for Workforce Development Andrew Mercier in the release.
