On this episode of the Construction Record Podcast, digital media editor Warren Frey speaks with National Hispanic Contractors Association (NAHICA) president Sergio Terreros about a new program to help women owners of construction firms to grow and enhance their businesses and the challenges and opportunities for Hispanic contractors in the United States.

Terreros gave details on PATRONAS, which launches on May 11, and is designed to provide support and resources to women-owned businesses in the industry. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, women comprise only 10 per cent of the construction industry workforce, while the number of women-owned construction businesses has steadily increased in recent years.

He also detailed how the association is helping the Hispanic community, one of the largest demographic groups in the United States, through advocacy and increasing a presence on construction firm boards, and explained how his background in marketing and advertising helps him to speak for his membership and their industry needs.
